WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU CONTACT ACBC...
When you call the Addiction Center of Broome County, most individuals are scheduled for a Pre-Admission visit. An individual may call ACBC seeking services for themselves, or others may make a referral for them. There is no charge for this initial visit and it is a group orientation. Information is given about agency services. We would like all individuals who are considering services at ACBC to be well-informed with regards to our confidentiality policy, patient rights and responsibilities, the costs of services, what to expect, and to be able to ask questions. We encourage anyone who feels that they might be in crisis to let us know so that we can provide the safest and best assistance possible.
After the group orientation, each individual will meet briefly with a clinician, review paperwork, and meet with billing. We will schedule each individual at that time to return for an assessment appointment. When the individual returns for the assessment, we will take a personal history from them and complete a breathalyzer and a drug screen. Sometimes part of the assessment process involves collaborating with other providers if there are releases of information that are signed by the person to whom it pertains. Each case is reviewed with the clinical supervisor, or supervising clinician and a recommendation is made. Recommendations may vary, based upon each person's needs and not all individuals who are assessed are recommended for treatment.
If you are considering scheduling an appointment for a Pre-Admission visit, and have any concerns or questions, please call us and ask to speak with a counselor. We are able to be reached at (607) 723-7308.
